South African Wine Organizations

South Africa has several private and governmental organizations which manage and regulate the local wine market as well as the export market.


WINES OF SOUTH AFRICA (WOSA) is a not-for-profit industry organisation which promotes the export of all South African wine in key international markets. Here you will find up-to-date information on our regions, varieties, terroir and amazing biodiversity, which all make for magic wines from a magical place.


The Wine Industry Development Association (WIDA) was established on 29 November 2006 and was one of the four business units of the South African Wine Industry Council. Our goal is to promote transformation through economic empowerment, human resource development and training, sound industrial relations and social development.


SAWIS (S A Wine Industry Information & Systems) is a company not for gain. Under control and direction of the South African Wine industry, our main functions are:

• Collection, processing and dissemination of industry information
• Administration of the industry’s Wine of Origin system is all about lip-smacking South African wines and the remarkable people and magical places behind these wines. Amateur or master, tradesperson or tourist, you are bound to find your own little nook of valuable information within this mammoth resource.
